Milestone

Josh has officially taken back his blog, but since I'm up in the middle of the night, I thought I'd post a quick entry. Gavin woke us up for both his midnight and 3am feeding. It's a big deal because it means he's maturing enough to have the self preservation instincts to make sure he gets fed. They wanted him to do this regularly before letting him leave the NICU, but the doctors instead settled for our promise that we would set our alarms to make sure little man got fed. We were working on a 4 hour feeding schedule. He's apparently in preference of a 3 hour one.

So as Josh and I start complaining that we're tired, remind us that this is a good thing!

The (Almost) First Twenty-Four

We're not quite at 24 hours here yet, but it's getting close. So, what, you might be wondering, have we been up to since bringing Gavin home? Well, there has been a lot of sleeping, a few family members by, some pretty good feedings, an older sister adjusting, and only a few sleep interruptions. To be fair, Gavin never woke us up last night, we were doing the waking. He's pretty chill, but we had to get him to eat so he doesn't lose weight; "failure to thrive" is what they call it, which means he'd have to return to the hospital. None of that, thank you very much. Chloe, on the other hand, woke up twice last night, and both times happened one hour before Gavin's feeding times. Strange. But, we survived.

To be quite honest, and I haven't run this by Lena so we may not be in agreement, but it seems easier this time around. Perhaps because it is so, in that we kind of know what we're doing. Or perhaps we're just used to getting up at any hour of the night and it doesn't bother us.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
