Recurring Theme

Okay, so yes, I keep apologizing for not updating more often. It's just a crazy time around here with us. I work in non-profit and the month of December is usually horrendous, doubly so now that I work for one whose fiscal year ends December 31. Add to that the half-bath remodel and there's just no such thing as free time. But, December is almost over; not that January will bring free time with work, but that's for another time. Anyway, here's a few pictures of Chloe with that ever-roaming Santa Claus.

Apologies

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, folks. It's been a crazy month around here. I'll get some photos up for you soon. In the meantime, we're all doing pretty good. Chloe's getting huge! She's so tall and she's using more words. Her favorite at the moment seems to be "Ball." Otherwise, she's doing great. And I'm feeling mostly better from the stomach bug I had last weekend. Oh, and in other news, Chloe's cousin Lain turned 7 last week. He absolutely loved the hoodie we got him, and he wore it to school on his birthday. That makes us smile. Later!

Words, Words, Words

Here's a little side note for you. I arrived at day care to pick up Chloe and when I walked in the room she looked at me, pointed across the room, and said, "Ah-doo. Ah-doo." I looked to where she was pointing and realized she was talking about her friend Andrew from her class. It was just a funny thing to hear her say. I told Lena and we're both confident that we've never seen her acknowledge anyone by name other than ourselves and Nana.

If you look at where the treeline ends, you can just make out where the water level is supposed to be. Can someone say "Please rain?"

Molars 3 & 4

It's been a long few days around here. Chloe has molars 3 & 4 coming and is not in a very good mood, nor is she sleeping very well. Add to that Lena's weekend with two consecutive late nights at work, and our house is tired and cranky. But at least some of the tension is gone after wrecking just over half of the half-bath. One more session like that and all the tile will be gone and we can start putting up the new drywall. But you're not here to listen to the half-bath renovation. Chloe is doing well, just cranky, and sleeping (up until the last few days) very well in her big girl bed. Pictures are limited as I don't want a flash to wake her up. We'll see what we can do about that in the near future, though.

At A Loss For Words...

Chloe and Daddy are both at a loss for words over the demise of such a stellar year for the Cubs. Darn you, October! You screwed up our baseball! :)

Welcome to October

Chloe spent part of last night in her big girl bed! She definitely knew what it was for, and after a few minutes of moaning, she went fast asleep for about 4-1/2 hours. Of course, then she was up and down from about 12:30 to 3:15 when I got her to fall asleep enough to be put back in bed. Oi! What a night, and not a very fun day after that. Anyway, here's a video from dinner tonight. The big question: eat or sleep?

Holy Surfaced Molars, Batman!

Yesterday afternoon after I got home from work, we were both playing around with Chloe and I got her to open her mouth and was met with quite a shock. Sometime in the last few days Chloe has had two molars cut through!!! We got a finger in there and there are definitely more on the way, too. This does, perhaps, explain the general whining and "looseness" she's displayed since Saturday morning. So, the tooth count is now at 10!!!

15 Month Checkup

Here's a quick update from the doctor that Lena sent me in a text message:

Weight: 23lbs, 3oz
Height: 32-1/8in

Sorry for the prolonged absence; we had to go to Wisconsin for my grandma's funeral two weekends ago. I have pictures from the farm (Aunt Donna & Uncle Glenn's) as well as some from the trip Lena and Chloe took to Savannah this last weekend. I'll get them up soon.

Who Are You, And What Have You Done With Our Daughter?

I thought I would share this quick story with you all. Yesterday evening, after a scrumptous dinner and some ice cream cake, followed by a hysterical bath, Chloe was running around the living room playing with toys, wanting us to read books, and sipping at her milk. When she started winding down and rubbing her eyes a bit, we went into our normal "daddy rocking until she's almost asleep and then putting her in her crib" routine. Chloe wanted none of it. So, I sat her down on the living room floor so she could play more and wear herself out. Instead, she motioned for her room and Lena led the way. When she stood by her crib and held onto the sliding side, Lena picked her up, we both gave her kisses and said good night. Chloe's response: "Bye-bye" with her little wave. I pulled up her blanket and we left the room. She chatted to herself for a little bit, but nothing that made us go get her again. However, as if to help us realize that she was, indeed, really our daughter, she woke us up in the middle of the night. If we can kick that from happening again, and have her want to go to bed, we'd be really happy.

Aquarium

Lena, Chloe, Jerilyn, and I went to the Georgia Aquarium yesterday. Just like at the Braves game, they took our picture. And just like at the Braves game, I pulled the shot off the Internet and won't think of paying for it. Besides, they already got $40 out of us for food, and would have stolen more from us if we hadn't been given those three free tickets. Anyway, mini-rant ended, I will deliver more photos later, since I'm at work and don't have the camera with me.

Chloe 1st CUBS Game

Chloe went to her first Cubs game last night. The Cubs smoked the Braves 8-0. Chloe did really well last night, and we left as the 9th was starting. Here are a few shots (more at home on camera, but I don't have that with me). Chloe is so excited because she gets to go to the game again tonight (Dad's only a little more excited, if you couldn't tell).

Funny Note

We just found this kind of funny. Sometime recently, either from someone at school or from watching us around the house, Chloe has learned how to blow out through her nose when someone puts a tissue up to it. It's just funny.

Picture This

So, just over a week ago, we had Shannon come over to take some pictures of Chloe. It benefited all of us since we wanted nice pictures of Chloe, and Shannon needed "baby pics" for his portfolio. I think it's safe to say that we all made out in the end. We got free pictures, and he got them for his portfolio. Win/Win (or Win/Win/Win for anyone who is a fan of "The Office (US Version)").
